The beautiful Nissan Murano is not just another SUV. This mid-size crossover offers great performance, sophisticated style and a host of features that will make driving fun. The Murano also offers you flexibility with four great trim levels, in addition to two additional hybrid options.

Through your selection of trim level and any optional package upgrades, you can create the perfect model to meet all your needs and desires in a vehicle.

Here's a look at the different Nissan Murano trim levels for 2017 and what they have to offer.

Nissan Murano S

The S trim level is the basic package. But just because it has what comes standard doesn't mean that you'll be missing out on all the good features.

The base trim level comes with push-button start, a color driver-assistance display screen mounted over the steering wheel and between the gauges, and illuminated controls mounted right on the steering wheel. The display screen also provides information about the air conditioner, audio system, car maintenance and more.

There is a separate screen for the infotainment system on the center console, and it includes a subscription to the Nissan Connection system with mobile apps for three years from your purchase of a new Murano. The infotainment system also includes USB and auxiliary inputs for streaming devices or charging, a rearview monitor and dual-zone automatic temperature control.

Powering the base model is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that puts out 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. An intuitive all-wheel drive system and speed-sensitive power steering provide assistance when you need it to keep you in control of your Murano.

You'll find that the Nissan Murano S offers all the basics and more, and numerous accessories and packages are available to help you get just the extra features you want.

SV Trim

The upgraded SV trim level offers everything that the base model includes plus a few extras.

On the outside, the SV trim adds fog lights for improved visibility and black roof rails for extra cargo space on family road trips. On the inside, you get HD radio and the Sirius XM Traffic and Travel Link, which provides local information like traffic, restaurant locations and movie listings. In addition to the USB port on the center console, you also get one for the rear passengers.

Other upgrades include an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The SV trim level allows you to feel like you're driving a luxury vehicle without actually paying luxury vehicle prices.

SL Trim

The SL trim takes things to the next level for the 2017 Nissan Murano. The offerings improve everything from comfort to style.

The exterior looks the same with the SL trim, but the roof rails are silver instead of black. It's a subtle change, but it makes a difference in the overall look. A power lift gate is offered, which doesn't change the look but does make it easier to operate. You can also open the lift gate from the dash or from your key fob.

On the inside, you get a lot more leather. Instead of just a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, you get leather-appointed seats, creating a more luxurious interior look. Adjustable ambient lighting adds an elegant touch.

Entertainment gets a boost from the Bose premium sound system with 11 speakers and dual subwoofers. You'll hear the music you love in bold, crisp sound.

The auto-dimming rearview mirror adjusts whenever bright lights beam into sight. You don't have to worry about being blinded by tailgaters and those who don't realize that they have their high beams on. The mirror also includes a HomeLink Universal Transceiver that can operate garage doors, security gates and home lighting systems.

You can also adjust the driver's seat and outside mirrors with just a tap of your key fob, which you can program with your preferences.

Safety equipment also gets an upgrade with this trim level, including a driver attention alert system, a blind spot warning system, rear-cross traffic alert monitoring and moving object detection. The driver attention alert system monitors the movement of the steering wheel to detect any erratic activity. It will alert you when it thinks you need a break or to drink a cup of coffee to perk up.

Platinum

The Platinum trim level includes all the best that the 2017 Nissan Murano has to offer. On the exterior, the Platinum upgrades with larger aluminum-alloy wheels with an attractive design.

Inside, you'll enjoy heated and cooled front seats, as well as heated rear seats. You'll enjoy a comfortable ride all year long, even during the coldest days of the New England winter. The steering wheel is also heated so that your fingers don't become icy when you slide into the driver's seat on a cold morning.

Power return rear seatbacks make it easy to put your seats back in a comfortable position after lowering them to make room for cargo. Just tap a button and they'll move back into place on their own.

The Platinum trim includes all the other safety and convenience features of the SL trim, and it creates a luxurious feeling in the Murano.

You also have the option to get a hybrid Murano in the Platinum trim level. A hybrid option is also available with the SL trim level. Both hybrid options include all the same features for each trim level, but the drive train is a hybrid electric motor and gas engine.
